Supporting the Environment
Rotary shares an interest in protecting a common legacy: supporting the environment.
More than $18 million in grant funding has been allocated to environment-related projects over the past five years.
Creating a distinct area of focus to support the environment will give Rotary members even more ways to bring about positive change in the world and increase our impact.
The members of Corrimal Rotary are keenly aware of environmental issues and to address this, we established the the Corrimal Rotary Environment Group (CREG) with a focus on local environmental projects including beach and creek clean-ups, community gardens and tree planting.
Some of our current projects include:
Beach Clean-Ups

Our team at CREG undertake clean-ups on the1st & 3rd Saturdays of the month and every Thursday around the Illawarra. An additional Corrimal Beach clean up is undertaken bi-monthly.
To find out where our clean-ups are taking place, check out our club calendar - link below.
If you know of any areas in the Northern Illawarra area that needs a rubbish clean up then let us know by contacting Dilys on creg@corrimalrotary.org.au.
Adopt a Tree
This project was launched on Australia Day 2022 with funds from the National Australia Day Council and with the aim of seeking support from Rotary clubs and members, and the community generally to fund and plant 10,000 trees in bushfire ravaged or environmentally impacted areas of NSW.
This goal has been surpassed and the project has expanded to include the ACT. The target is now for 50,000 trees to be adopted and planted.
The cost is $5 per tree.
Adoption certificates are sent electronically and can be purchased by individuals, Rotary or any type of club, or businesses, and can be used as gifts or acknowledgements. Certificates can be personalised as required.
Purchasers will be notified when plantings are taking place and invited to participate.
